Description :

This is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a lot on Porcher Island, a stunning piece of Coastal BC. The lots were selectively logged in 1997. Despite the logging, various buildings sites remain and vegetation is back on its way to maturity.

The lots are in a fantastic location just up the road from the rural community of Oona River. All of the properties are road accessible with a recently cleared driveway. Each lot is southern facing with views of the surrounding backcountry.

Each lot has a drilled well with ample water to support a homestead. There are currently no other services to the lot, but a potential for power and hydro in the future.

Construction services are available in Oona River for clearing, landscaping, and excavation in order to modify your lot to perfection.

This is the first time these lots have become available to the public, and a great chance to own acreage in the Pacific Northwest.

Porcher Island
Porcher Island is located 16 miles by air southwest of Prince Rupert. Access to Porcher Island is achieved by floatplane 15 minutes from Prince Rupert and by boat 1 - 2 hours from Prince Rupert harbour. Porcher Island is sparsely populated. Two communities of note are Hunts Inlet and Oona River. The majority of the properties in Hunts Inlet are used for seasonal recreation; however, there are a number of year-round residences. Oona River is considered to be a small working community with seasonal and year-round habitation. Employment focuses around logging and fishing.

Oona River
The community of Oona River is located on the eastern side of Porcher Island, south of Prince Rupert, BC. It is one of the few coastal communities which have managed to survive the changing economy and technological shifts which have occurred since their original settlement. Oona River’s history began when Scandinavian settlers came to homestead this area in the early 1900s. The community’s economic base was centered on the resource industries of fishing, boat building and logging. There have been over 100 boats built in Oona River and there are still boat shops that exist today. The area surrounding Oona River is combined with oceanic waterways, small coastal inlets and islands and its proximity to the Skeena River. The climate in summer averages 15.5 degrees Celsius and -2.2° Celsius in winter with annual precipitation of 236.9 cm. The community includes a post office, accommodation, a marina, and other small local businesses.
