    Area Data:

The resort is located in the British Columbia’s world famous Okanagan Valley, a region that has become one of Canada’s most desired locations to live and play. In addition to “Canada’s best weather”, the South Okanagan is fast becoming one of Canada’s premier recreation destinations. Located within the Okanagan Valley are four of the fastest growing resort areas and Canada’s second largest ski resort, Big White Resort, located near Kelowna, B.C.

The interior area of British Columbia is currently estimated to be the third largest regional area in terms of annual skier visits in Canada. The consistency of snow pack, dry powder, milder conditions, and variety of ski terrain have made the larger ski areas in the region destination resorts rivalling the Western US and European Alps in popularity. In fact, it is estimated that up to 30% of the annual skier visits to the Okanagan originate from Europe and Australia, and annual polls in the UK consistently rank Big White as one of the top ten ski destinations. International visitors to the Okanagan should continue to grow with the expansion of the Kelowna Airport to accommodate international direct flights. The Thompson River-Okanagan Valley area enjoys some of the most consistent powder ski conditions within North America.

The main centres of Penticton and Kelowna are both closely situated to the north. The closest international airport is located in Kelowna, approximately a 2-hour drive. Kelowna International Airport has recently been extended, allowing larger international commercial aircraft to operate from the airport. The Penticton airport is the closest commercial airport to Mt. Baldy at just over one hour’s drive time. Approximately 100,000 people reside within a radius of a one-hour drive from Mt. Baldy. Nearly 250,000 people live within a 2-hour drive and nearly 5 million within a four to six hour drive.

Within a short drive from Mt. Baldy are world-renowned vineyards, internationally recognized golf courses, and Canada’s warmest lake, Osoyoos Lake. The growing resort town of Osoyoos is only a 45-minute drive from the resort. Osoyoos has long been Canada’s summer playground, with over 35,000 daily visits. Due to proximity, Mt. Baldy will attract summer visitors looking for recreation opportunities not offered in the valley or those looking to escape the summer heat.
